Blog TopicHow Kids Gain Bad Reputations  A boy my children play with has twice headbutted other kids and hurt them.  As we grow wary of him, it made me think about how easily children gain bad reputations.
Blog Topic: Sour Candy and Teeth Decalcification Many popular sour candies on the market are so acidic they decalcify, or remove the protective calcium, from teeth.  Here's a list of candies and their acidity I received from the dentist.

Social Skills
As our children climb on the bus and head back to school, our wishes for a happy and successful school year go with them.  An important part of learning is the development of social skills.  The quality of a child's social life depends on key skills they develop early in life  This month, we're focusing on resources to help you assist your child in identifying and acquiring positive social skills as well as avoiding negative ones that can result in a lifelong pattern of unpopularity.

My son has recently been diagnosed with ADD.  Where can I learn more about his diagnosis and treatment options?
A good place to start is Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, The site offers resources for parents and those new to ADD/ADHD including FAQ's and Terms to Know, support forums and links to local chapters, news, research and much more.
As you browse the site, be sure to compile a list of questions for your next visit to your son's doctor.
The price of hot lunch at school went up again this year.  It's getting really expensive and very difficult to budget.  Is there any public assistance for hot lunches?  If so, how do I find out if I qualify?
"The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day."
Learn more about the program by reading the fact sheet.
To find out if your family meets the criteria, ask your school for an application.
