The fact is, the US is behind many other countries in science.  Our methods of teaching science by lecture and textbook bores students and prevents them from making the important connections between science and real life.  A child may have memorized the periodic table, but if he doesn’t understand the importance of baking powder in making biscuits, the important application of that knowledge is missing.

Your child may be struggling with technical terms and believing she’s a science failure even while conducting insightful experiments with insects in your back yard.  Help your child learn the connections between what she’s learning in class and her everyday life.
